Laptop clunks for 30 seconds then goes to a blue screen

When I try to start my laptop it makes a clicking sound for about 30 seconds, then the screen goes bright blue with some writing on it I can't read and nothing happens. After that it just stays like that until I hold the power button to turn it off. It started two weeks ago and now it does it every time. The laptop is about four years old. I have my photos on it and a load of work for college I'm meant to be sending off this month. I don't want to lose any of it. Looking for someone local in Leeds who can come and have a look, tell me what's wrong, and give me a price to fix it if it can be fixed.
